I didn't have my camera with me so I used Brad's point and shoot. I can tell a huge difference when you are able to control your setting as opposed to when you can't.

P.S. - Lighting aside, you guys have cute kids.
I've noticed that many of your indoor shots have a harsh shadow behind them. Are you using an external flash? If so, you might want to bounce it off the ceiling or a wall for a much more pleasing effect.
